Even so, the advantages of the Pixel 3 selfie camera and Galaxy Note 9 are in different aspects. Broadly speaking, Pixel 3 is considered better for shooting photos, while the Galaxy Note 9 is superior in video recording. "Google places emphasis on texture and photo details, while Samsung prefers subtle results despite sacrificing details," the DxOMark team said in a report.

DxOMark's assessment is based on objective and subjective testing at stable and controlled conditions. DxOMark even makes dummy humans with realistic skin colors to ensure consistency and score accuracy for each smartphone. For each smartphone tested, DxOMark analyzed 1,500 photos and two-hour videos, as compiled from KompasTekno on Wednesday January 23, from Engadget. It should be noted, the results of testing selfie cameras have nothing to do with the quality of the cellphone's back camera.
