Behind the sophistication of technology, there must be one or two deficiencies contained therein. This is normal because there is no perfect technology. It seems like this time it happened to one of the most recent game consoles today.

Yudha P., Tekno Kompas - If you are the owner of a PlayStation 4 console (PS4), be careful when there are mysterious messages entering your console. Because the message can cause the PS4 console to suddenly hang and get damaged due to a fairly dangerous bug. This bug is known to afflict a number of PS4 users who then warned other PS4 users on social media.

Through the Reddit forum, these users report incoming messages containing a series of characters which then causes the console to crash suddenly. According to the users, this bug makes PS4 console owners have to restart the console so that it can return to normal. But there are some cases where the PS4 console that crashes cannot be repaired by simply restarting it. Instead it must be reset to factory settings to return to normal.

The impact is, even though the console can resume running normally, games and other data stored in the console will disappear completely. In the Reddit forum, users see this bug similar to the problem that had befallen the iPhone in 2015. At that time the iPhone that received certain character messages crashed and died instantly.

Quoted by KompasTekno from The Verge on Monday, October 15 2018, Sony also said it would soon release a system update patch to close this security gap. While waiting for this update to be released, Sony urges users to delete mysterious messages that enter the console via the Sony PlayStation Message application on Android or iOS. To be more secure, users are encouraged to turn off the function of sending messages temporarily. Users can deactivate the message function via the Personal Info menu then select the Messages option.

Hopefully this bug will be resolved soon.
