So far, we know there are 2 smartphone operating systems that dominate, iOS and Android. This time, we are acquainted with a new smartphone operating system created to try to surface.
Tekno Kompas - Huawei, which lost its Android license, developed the HongMeng OS as a replacement operating system. Reportedly it will initially launch around August or September, but the latest news from a Chinese news site says "Hongmeng" OS will be released next October. "Hongmeng" is an operating system prepared by Huawei specifically for middle-end or low-end smartphones. This means, for the initial release phase, high-end smartphones or flagship made by Huawei, such as the Mate or P series, are likely to still use the Android version of AOSP (Android Open Source Project) or in short a license-free android version.
The release of "Hongmeng" OS for cheap smartphones will also be applied in the China region first, as summarized by KompasTekno from UberGizmo, last Saturday, June 15, 2019. Because, if released globally, "Hongmeng" OS is called still not able to replace the Android ecosystem, where users are still dependent on Google services as the basis of the Android operating system. Even so, Huawei itself has registered the trademark "Hongmeng" OS in several countries, such as China, South Korea, the Philippines, and several other Asian countries.
Huawei also registered the name in a number of countries on the continent of Europe and America, such as Spain, Canada and Mexico. Outside of China, the "Hongmeng" OS will likely change its name to Ark OS.
Apparently, not only Huawei wants to try this new OS. Other Chinese smartphone vendors like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, also tried this operating system. Huawei is reportedly intensively testing HongMeng and in the trial process, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo also sent an internal team to share in the operating system. As a result, the HongMeng operating system is claimed to be able to boost system performance 60 percent faster than if using the Android OS. KompasTekno quoted from the Global Times on Friday June 14, 2019, in the development of this operating system Huawei did not work alone. In addition to working with Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, Huawei also cooperates with Tencent to help improve the performance of HongMeng OS.
Unfortunately both Tencent and Xiaomi, declined to comment on the news. Huawei itself accelerated the making of this operating system after the United States government entered the name Huawei into the list named "entity list". Companies that are included in the list are not allowed to buy components in the form of software and hardware to companies from USA, without permission from USA's government. So, Huawei has the potential to lose the Android operating system license which is actually owned by Google, which is a USA company.
Some analysts revealed that the HongMeng operating system is expected to begin to be embedded in the upcoming Huawei P40. Even according to the nearest source, there are still a number of large technology companies that also helped Huawei develop this operating system.
